This week I continued my research on locating some "beta" testers for our project.
It turns out there is a great pilot study being conducted down in the city. Once we have a fully functioning program, I am going to contact the OLPC in NYC people and see if they would allow some of their students to do some test blogging for us.
Also, Robin and I are working on the Open Source homepage design.
Finally, I am looking into security/permissions stuff for wordpress because that is the software running on our test server. We need to be able to demonstrate that our server has secure logins for the kids.
OLPC Post-to-Blog
This project is part of Rensselaer Polytechnic University's Rensselaer Center for Open Source Software.
During the summer of 2008, we will be designing and implementing a "post-to-blog" function into the OLPC's Sugar operating system.
It is our hope that by building this tool into the system, we can facilitate blogging practices for children with OLPC laptops.

Week 2 & 3
Finalize concept and begin to code
Weeks 4 - 6
New member of group: Robin!
ptb function built (or at least dummy buttons installed)
communicate with test server
blog site up and running
Week 7-8
debug
Week 9-12
if possible, embed ptb in more Sugar activities
see if we can get ptb talking to Blogger or Wordpress.
do some consistent blogging using actual OLPC laptops.
